CLASS SCHEDULE for SPRING 2006 Special HANDI QUILTER DEMO presented by Mary Kochevar FREE Seminar Saturday June 3rd 12-2 YES! You can quilt more and have fun doing it! This is your chance to see our LONG ARM Quilting machine in action! Mary will demonstrate the many ways the HQ Sixteen Quilting Machine can be used to finish your quilts in a fast, professional, and creative way. If you have already purchased the Handi Quilter system you will gain valuable knowledge on how to operate this wonderful tool. Curious about quilting on a dedicated quilting machine? Come and see why this machine is in such high demand. SERGER, EMBROIDERY & SPECIALTY CLASSES Taught by JOANNE BANKO SERGER BASICS- Master the Serger! Thread the machine the RIGHT way, adjust tensions, perfect the rolled hem, & much more! Open to those who would like to discover the Serger world by using one of our machines. June 7, 14, & 21. 6-9 FEE $60. Includes notebook. Brother’s PE Design Software Part Two – Explore options for organizing, converting, and editing existing designs. Take designs apart bit by bit! Brother’s PE Design Software Part Three – This time I will demonstrate Lettering, Monograms, and a whole bunch of great techniques for transforming text and embroidering true type fonts. May 17, 6- 8:30. FEE $20. FANCY FOOTWORK - Whether your sewing machine is as old as the hills or brand spanking new, chances are there are a variety of special presser feet designed to make your sewing projects faster and more fun. Join me as I show you some of the most popular ones and explain why you may want to give them a try yourself! Wednesday May 31, 2-4. Fee $10 EMBROIDERED ALBUM COVER – I guarantee you will make more than one of these. It makes a great gift for a multitude of occasions but you are sure to want one of your very own too! This method can be used to cover a notebook, photo album, or memory book, just to name a few. Embroidered accents and piped trim make it beautiful. What a great way to use your favorite embroidery designs. This class is geared to those who have Machine embroidery capabilities. Monday June 5th 6-9. FEE $25. After School Kids Classes Taught by Karen Weaver KIDS CAN LEARN TO SEW in our Kids Class program! Karen Weaver is our talented and energetic KIDS CLASS teacher. She will guide your child into the wonderful world of sewing with FUN, FAST, and FABULOUS projects! They will learn how to run a sewing machine and stitch some practice pieces during each session. All ages are welcome to attend these classes. If your child can read, they can learn to sew. No experience necessary. Sign them up now so they can join in the fun! Your child will be happily stitching away when they finish the first class. If you do not have a sewing machine, you can rent one of ours for a small fee. Your rental fee can be used towards the purchase of a new or used sewing machine. We have lots of affordable, quality machines to choose from. Questions? Please call us. Classes are held in the afternoon from 4:00-5:30. FEE for all four classes $40. Stitch up a trendy purse made with old Blue Jeans and make a great memo board for photos, notes, and whatever! Kids Sewing Camp – June 26, 27, 28, & 29. 10:30-12:30. Spend four days Sewing and crafting some really great STUFF! All fabric supplies are included in the class fee. Fee for all four camp days $55. If you are totally NEW to sewing we would be happy to give you a complimentary machine operation lesson before you take your first sewing class. Please call us for an appointment. Sewing Basics – Purse Class - Make a stylish purse while you learn to sew like a pro! This class will guide you through the fundamentals of sewing. You will learn to read a pattern, cut, sew, and press for professional results. Class held Tuesday March 28, Thursday March 30, Tuesday April 4, AND Thursday April 6, 6-8:30 FEE $60. Sewing Basics – Spring Table Set – Set your table for Spring! Stitch up a pretty Spring Tablerunner trimmed with piping and tassels. Make coordinating napkins or simple placemats to complete the set. Tuesday April 11,18, & 25. 6-8:30 FEE $45. Sewing Basics Session Capri Pants – Get dressed for warm weather and make your own comfortable Capri pants or shorts. The pull on style pattern is perfect for an easy sew, easy fit project. Tuesday May 16, 23, & 30. 6-8:30 FEE $45. Intermediate Sewing - Perfect Pants with Fredda BarnesStart with a basic pants pattern and end up with a pair of pants that really fit! Tuesday June 6, 13, & 20. 6-9pm. Fee $65. Week one – Get measured, then alter your pattern and make a muslin for the next week. Week two – Fine tune the muslin and perfect your pattern. Cut and sew pants at home for the 3rd week. Week three – Fine tune your pants and learn finishing techniques for a Perfect Professional Pair of Pants! Fredda will demonstrate how to sew a quality fly front zipper in this final class. Class size is very limited so you can get one on one, hands on help. Homework is REQUIRED. You will need to sew your pants at home to allow class time for fitting and altering your pattern. QUILTING CLASSES Taught by our Quilt Specialist, Mary Kochevar SPRING WALLHANGING Create a beautiful appliquéd wallhanging with a lively spring garden theme. Learn an intriguing, unique method for appliqué & piece-by-piece construction during this class. You will also have the opportunity to embellish with thread painting techniques. Join us, you are sure to have fun & enjoy the process of completing this special work of art! Some homework involved. Monday April 17 & May 1, 6-8p.m. OR Friday May 12 & 26, 11-1. FEE $40 FREE MOTION QUILT SAMPLER Back by popular demand! The “How To” of machine quilting on your sewing machine. Stippling, Meandering, & Artistic Free motion quilting. Make a series of samples using a multitude of techniques. This is your chance for Hands On experience with the guidance of an expert. Monday May 15 & 22, 6-8. FEE $40 QUILT-IN-A-DAY SNOWBALL QUILT Start to quilt or expand your skills with this class. The Snowball is a very popular pattern with tremendous potential for creating a look that can be anything from Contemporary to Country! Plus, the center block is perfect for embellishing with machine embroidery or even photo transfer. Makes a wonderful wallhanging or lap quilt. Learn speedy strip quilting techniques and professional ways to layer it up, quilt it, and finish with a beautiful binding. Friday workshop June 16 10:30-4:30 FEE $50 NEW !!!!!! COMPUTER BASICS This class is perfect for anyone who wants to gain control of their computer. Learn how to use your computer and you will have more time to create beautiful things with your embroidery machine! Our new instructor, Linda Balas will guide you through with clicks and tips for getting your computer to do what you want it to do. Learn about organizing, saving, & finding files, loading programs, getting started on the Internet, and more! See everything clearly demonstrated on our “big screen”.
